Size: | 28" W x 35 " H |
Medium: | transparent watercolor |
Try painting for days with your nose inches away from a bloom that smells like rotting meat! What made me under those circumstances count and then render the dots on each individual flower I'll never know. Oh, I know , I was enchanted by this strange orchid with it's leopard spots and tiny orange lip. It is actually one of my favorite paintings because of the way the dramatic blooms reach forward toward the viewer. The inflorescence is painted life-size while the vegetative part is painted 1/2 size.
