Title: | Columbine |
Size: | 17" W x 25" H |
Medium: | watercolor |
When I was a child growing up at my family home in the rocky wilderness of Northeastern Connecticut, one of my favorite wild flowers was the flaming red, incredibly delicate Columbine. It grew tenaciously from the cracks in the granite bolders, nodding gracefully in the cool summer breezes. I had always wanted to paint this beautiful flower, but time and opportunity never coincided until this past summer when I had the most wonderful week of uninterrupted painting time there. This work and the Spotted geranium were created then. Shown at the New Jersey State Museum.
